Merchant’s Hospitality Introduces Merchant’s River House A New Concept for the New Year

Merchant’s River House (NYC)- It’s the new year, and as they say, it’s out with the old and in with the new.  Merchants Hospitality Inc. (“MHI”) announces the conversion of Steamers Landing into Merchants River House- An upbeat casual, family friendly restaurant facing the Hudson River & Statue of Liberty.  Boasting over two hundred seats including indoor dining and two outdoor terraces, Merchants River House is the perfect locale for enjoying sunsets over the Hudson.

Think American Bistro, Merchants River House will have it all- great food, wine & spirits, and atmosphere. The expansive menu will serve moderately priced American Regional fare that includes hand-made burgers, herbed rotisserie organic chicken, prime rib, steaks, seafood, pastas, and salads.  And of course, there is also a section on the menu just for the kids, including Mac & Cheese, chicken fingers, and a variety of vegetables.

So what wraps up this great experience? The décor of course! With a copper top bar, bistro chairs and blue checkered table cloths in the dining room the cheerful and casual environment will be appealing to local residents, business guests and tourists alike.

Merchants Hospitality Inc. acquired Steamers Landing in July 2010 and since then has been evaluating the operation of the restaurant, its unique location and the demographics of the neighborhood. While Steamers Landing has had a long history in this location, MHI has concluded that a focus on seafood and higher prices limited its appeal to residents and tourists of the area.  MHI’s core philosophy is to provide moderately priced and delectable food, exceptional service in a warm and inviting environment with attention to detail.  The conversion to Merchants River House will be consistent to the MHI core values.

MHI’s operations in the Financial District include SouthWest NY and Quality Burger at the World Financial Center, Merchants Café on Washington Street, and Pound and Pence Pub and Grill on Liberty Street.

We’re opening our doors on Monday, January 17, so come, join us and be among the first to enjoy our cuisine! Hope to see you there.
